Claim criteria

You can make a claim if you meet the following criteria:

  • You have stopped working (e.g., due to redundancy, retirement, or returning to full-time study) and have received your final pay.
  • You do not expect to return to work or start a new job within four weeks.
  • You are not claiming taxable state benefits such as Jobseeker's Allowance, Incapacity Benefit, or Carer's Allowance. (You can claim with Universal Credit)
  • You are not receiving a pension from your old employer.
  • You have Parts 2 and 3 of your P45 form from your previous employer
